Program Description & Overview

Qimmah’s Mentorship Program aims to connect talented Arab youth who are applying to US universities with Arab mentors who are studying, or recently graduated, from a top tier college. The program is designed to maximize an applicant’s chances of admission by utilizing the experience and knowledge of successful former Arab applicants.

Please review the following criteria to be considered for the program:

  • You must be a student who is currently planning to apply to US universities during the 2019-2020 application season

  • You must fill out the Mentee Application or the Mentor Application

Current Arab students and recent graduates who want to become Qimmah Mentors must understand that:

  • The mentorship is a light, but important, commitment

  • Time commitment is approximately 1 to 2 hours per week from September to January

  • Your responsibilities will include calls with your mentee, responding to their questions, and reviewing essays / application components

Qimmah’s mentorship coordinators will process all applications and will pair up mentors with mentees based on credentials, academic background, and interests. After the pairing is done, an introductory email will be sent to connect the mentor and mentee. Within a week from the initial introduction, the mentor should arrange a Skype / call meeting with the mentee.

Progress will be tracked through:

  • Short surveys (~3min) that will be sent every two weeks (twice a month). Both Mentors and Mentees are required to fill them out.

  • Evaluation form at the end of the program. This helps us further improve our mentorship program for future cycles.

The structure of the mentorship program will be as follows:

  • Mentorship Coordinators: Coordinators will process applications and ensure that all mentors and mentees are making progress

  • Mentors: Mentors will interact directly with their mentees and will report progress or problems to the coordinators

  • Mentees: Mentees will interact directly with their mentors. They will update and inform the coordinators if there are any problems

Before applying, please review Qimmah's General Regulations and read the Mentor Guide or the Mentee Guide. The documents highlight the responsibilities, policies, and expectations.
